Try your hand at Plein Air Watercoloring! We are excited to announce our second workshop collaboration with the North Olympic Land Trust. Students will learn how to identify a good painting subject, how to draw on the watercolor paper and paint with watercolor in a Plein Air setting.
About the instructor: Catherine Mix has been a professional watercolor artist and teacher on the Olympic Peninsula for more than 20 years. Here on the North Olympic Peninsula of Washington state, we are spoiled for choice with spectacular vistas of mountains, water, forests, fields, gardens, and wildlife. Catherine paints to capture the fascinating patterns of light and shadow on a person or an object and revels in color and texture, for the satisfaction of solving a complex problem, and for the joy of creating an original work of art.
About the location: This Land Trust property is located on a beautiful forested bluff on the east side of Port Angeles, this 20-acre former family farm offers local agricultural history, rich wildlife habitat, and amazing views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. This is a private property and not normally open to the public, so this is a rare opportunity to see and experience this place! *No walking required once on site.
