Social Norm’s to Host Dance Party GAYLA June 17 5:30pm-9:00pm Free Event to Celebrate Diversity, Community and Summer! The Social Norm’s Social Club for YOUth will host its first annual GAYLA, an Alternative Prom Formal Dance on Saturday, June 17 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. The GAYLA will be held in the Social Hall of the First United Methodist Church at 7th and Laurel Streets in Port Angeles. “We invite youth, young adults and our community to celebrate the end of school, beginning of summer, and the beautiful diversity of our community. This may be the very first time any all ages queer friendly prom has been hosted in Port Angeles, especially at a church.” said Abby Bohman, Director of Social Norms and Community Engagement at FUMC. The event will feature local performers DJ O.M. GUSHHH, Blake McCabe, as well as Morgan Bartholick-LeMaire. “This event has been organized by myself, members of First United Methodist, as well as by queer youth and adults of the larger Port Angeles Community. This event is for everyone!” said Bohman. The GAYLA is designed for all ages from middle school and above. The GAYLA is a drug and alcohol-free event. Refreshments will be provided. RSVP is recommended but not required. Formal wear is encouraged, and people are invited to check the Social Norm’s clothing closet for lightly used formal attire.
